First Official Look At Zachary Levi As ‘Shazam!’

Fans have patiently waited for months to get their first official look at Zachary Levi as Shazam! and now the time has finally arrived.

Entertainment Weekly has released the first official image from the upcoming DC film. The images features Levi as the titular hero, alongside his best friend Freddy Freeman, played by actor Jack Dylan Grazer.

Check out the image below:

Director David F. Sandberg previously spoke about the costume design saying he wanted to go for “the old fashioned super hero look from the golden age of comics“.

Sandberg spoke more on the design with EW:

“I wanted to keep the shorter cape as a throwback to the original because that’s something that sets him apart from Superman or Batman. It makes him feel a bit more Golden Age superhero, which is the vibe I’m going for.”

Whilst the Shazam costume does pay homage to older superhero costumes, it also borrows from the characters 2011 “New 52” look with the hood with a glowing lightning blot across his chest.

I personally love the design and cant wait to see what more the suit has to offer when they add the CGI. Let us know in the comments below your thought on the costume.

Synopsis:

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam, courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana.

Shazam! hits screens April 5, 2018
