Is Henry Cavill In Or Out As ‘Superman’? Whilst No Clarification, Nothing Has Been Decided

Earlier today DC fans were left heartbroken with the news that Henry Cavill was leaving his role as Superman in the DC Extended Universe.

THR reported Cavill was hanging up his red cape, as Warner Bros. and Cavill couldn’t come to an agreement during contract negotiations to renew his deal to keep on playing Supes.

Cavill has played Superman in three films, first in 2014’s Man of Steel, then in 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and then in last years Justice League.

Warner Bros. wanted to have Cavill cameo in Shazam!, but due to scheduling conflicts talks had broke down. THR spoke with a few of their sources who had this to say:

“Superman is like James Bond, and after a certain run you have to look at new actors”

Others had this to say:

“There’s a recognition that some parts of the previous movies didn’t work.”

“Warners is trying to hit a “reset” button with the DC universe, steering its ship slowly into another direction.”

Once the news broke, Cavill’s agent Dany Garcia released a statement on Twitter insisting her client was still onboard to play Superman, and that the studio would release a statement. Presumably to put minds at rest.

Be peaceful, the cape is still in his closet. @wbpictures has been and continues to be our partners as they evolve the DC Universe. Anticipate a WB statement later today.

Henry Cavill in Justice League

Warner Bros. released their statement through THR:

“While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged”

Their statement never clarfied anything at all. Is Cavill in of out?

However, nothing is final yet, as both Garcia and Warner Bros. have made that clear.

I get that people are pissed with whats happened today, but this news never came from some clickbait blog, it came from a reputable source that Warner Bros. uses to break news.

All I know is Cavill is a brilliant Superman, he himself embodied what Supes stood for. If this is the last time we ever see him take flight, I’m glad we have Man of Steel and Batman V Superman to look back on.

If this is it, thanks for everything you’ve done for the DCEU and good luck with your future Henry. If not? Lets hope we see you accomplish more wonders.
