Jon Hamm Reportedly Wants To Play ‘Batman’ In Matt Reeves’ Standalone

With the recent report from Variety regarding the shake-up at Warner Bros., they revealed the not too surprising news that Ben Affleck may not be returning as Batman after The Flash standalone film, Flashpoint.

Rumours of Affleck’s departure have been circling for a while now, and reports have escalated in the last two weeks after it was rumored Matt Reeves was interested in bringing Jake Gyllenhaal on to play his Batman in his standalone film.

Now it seems Gyllenhaal may have some competition the role of the Caped Crusader. As Radar Online is reporting that former Mad Men star Jon Hamm is interested in playing The Dark Knight. Hamm who co-starred in Affleck’s 2010 film The Town is said to be hell-bent on playing the character.

Their report states:

“Jon’s gunning hard for the role…They enjoyed working together and have been on good terms ever since. But Jon knows Ben has faced some criticism over Batman v Superman and Justice League and frankly thinks he’d be better suited for the job. This is business for Jon, not personal.”

They go on to say:

“Of course, Ben’s not officially out of the role yet, but the writing’s on the wall, and Jon’s desperate for the gig — friend or not.”

With Hamm at 46 and standing at 6″2 he looks to be as close as possible to Ben’s stature physically and contemporarily speaking, he has been rumored to “carefully courting” director Matt Reeves for months.

I would file this under RUMOUR, when have you ever heard of Radar Online breaking scoops on superhero films? With everything going on at Warner Bros. I would be highly surprised if Hamm gets the role, especially considering all those who say Affleck is too old to continue.
