We’re eight months away from James Wan’s Aquaman hitting the big screen and pickup shots are currently underway.
The additional scenes that are being shot are to add Fresh of the Boat actor Randall Park to the film. Wan took to Twitter to reveal Park had joined the cast as Dr. Shin.

With Park’s casting, numerous reports had suggested he was a brand new character being added to the film during the pickups. However Wan took to Twitter to shut down rumours and confirm Dr. Shin was always part of Aquaman.
“I didn’t add a new character now, Dr Shin was in the script since day one. I had cast Randall a year ago in Aust (I’m a big fan of his/love FOTB), but I didn’t shoot his stuff till now. Hence, it’s literally “pickups”
I love how Wan nipped things in the bud before rumours spread. I hope more DC directors take this route in the future. It’s more than likely that Park wasn’t available to film his part during principal photography due to his comments on Fresh of the Boat.
Dr. Shin is a supporting character from the Aquaman comics. He is a friend of Tom Curry and Arthur Curry, who helped the young superhero develop his powers — before turning foe as Arthur refused to reveal the location of Atlantis.
The film stars Jason Momoa (Justice League) as Aquaman; Amber Heard (Magic Mike XXL) as Mera; Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man 2) as Vulko; Temuera Morrison (Green Lantern) as Tom Curry; Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables) as Nereus; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (The Get Down) as Black Manta; with Patrick Wilson (Watchmen) as Orm/Ocean Master; and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman (Lion) as Atlanna.
Aquaman hits screens December 21, 2018 in the US and December 14, 2018 in the UK.
