‘Aquaman’ Makes Waves At San Diego Comic Con

I don’t know how you write about anything Aquaman related and NOT write sea puns about it.

Finally, after what feels like years of silence, the floodgates are open on Aquaman. With the trailer debut, it finally feels great embracing another film in the Pantheon of the DC Films Universe. And wow, a trailer that was. See Below:

I don’t even know where to begin with this one. If you thought DC was going to “course correct” from the DC World Zack Snyder built, you may have a better idea now; that is not the case. I don’t know how many references I saw from the previous films, all I know is that there were MANY.

I almost feel it may be a disrespectful gesture to describe it in detail. I think, however, the real reason is that I am still in shock of what I saw. Sharks being ridden, Black Manta showing up, and my personal favorite, hearing Orm for the first time.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that I feel Orm will be up in the ranks of one of the greatest villains appearing on-screen. Maybe its Patrick Wilson’s voice hearing him speak about Arthur challenging him for the throne. Or maybe it was the majestic cap flap that I didn’t realize I needed. What I do know, is that the underwater battle looks like a Game of Thrones Battle, mixed with a Star Wars opening war. I feel fear for the last time.

I was very confident James Wan would deliver, I just had no idea how. Well, he showed me. We may not be getting a Star Wars film this December, but I think Aquaman will surely fill any void fans may think will be there in a Sci-Fi Fantasy film.

One curious thing I am wondering though: What is this scene going to be from? James Wan posted it last week and nothing of the sort appeared in the trailer.

If you were heartbroken over the Justice League debacle, this should hopefully put in some hope for the next few films headed our way. I cannot remember the last time I was confident that a film would be the exact true vision of the director without any type of manipulation at hand (or fin for that matter), but with this film, I am. Never, have we seen anything quite like this before on-screen, let alone, in the world of Comic Book Movies where at least 3 or more are happening every year.

What did you guys think about the new Aquaman Trailer? Let us know about it in the comments below.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman”, starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime — one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be … a king.

The film stars Jason Momoa (Justice League) as Aquaman; Amber Heard (Zombieland) as Mera; Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man 2) as Vulko; Temuera Morrison (Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones) as Tom Curry; Dolph Lundgren (Rocky IV) as Nereus; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Baywatch) as Black Manta; with Patrick Wilson (Watchmen) as Orm/Ocean Master; and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman (Eyes Wide Shut) as Atlanna.

Aquaman hits screens December 21, 2018 in the US and December 14, 2018 in the UK
