It was announced this week that Warner Bros. and DC are developing a Supergirl movie set in the DCEU with Oren Uziel (Cloverfield Paradox) writing the script.
With the announcement, everyone wants to know who will play the role of the Kryptonian superhero. It’s possible the studio could go for a complete unknown or lesser known actress to play Kara Zor-El, but there are multiple already established actresses that would make the role their own. Next up I will list 5 actresses who could be a perfect fit:
1- Valorie Curry
The 32-year-old actress is known for her role of Emma Hill in The Following, now with Dot in The Tick and recently with Kara in the video game Detroit: Become Human.
I started talking with her on Twitter because of Supergirl and the game Detroit: Become Human and it seems she is interested in playing the last daughter of Krypton if she has the opportunity.
2- Lily James
The 29 years old has starred as Lady Rose MacClare in Downtown Abbey and Ella in Cinderella. A fresh actress that is winning her place in Hollywood, continuing with the lead role in the Mamma Mia sequel.
3- Teresa Palmer
Another actress who can show the energy and aspects that make Supergirl special is 32-year-old actress Teresa Palmer from Lights Out could also fit the requirements that someone should have to portray the character.
Teresa was cast as Talia Al Ghul in the shelved Justice League: Mortal film back in 2008.
4- Ana de Armas
I’ve been following Ana’s career since she started acting in Spain – where she is very famous – with shows like El Internado and Hispania. The 30 years old has continued her acting career in Hollywood with films such as Blade Runner 2049 and War Dogs.
She’s a great actress with a lot of potential and Warner Bros/DC could do with adding another good actress to the DCEU, she would represent the spirit of Supergirl perfectly.
5- Anya Taylor-Joy
Best known for her roles in The Witch and Split, this 22-year-old actress has shown what she can do almost anything and she’s surprising a lot of people and gaining a lot of fans.
If the studio/director want to take a young approach to the character of Kara, she is a smart choice.
As the project is in the very early stages of development, we could be in for a long wait before we hear of any casting news – so stay tuned and we will cover the latest developments regarding Supergirl’s addition to the DCEU.
